A little about Purex...

Our story… is an honest and heartfelt family story...

Since its founding in 2002, Purex has been engaged in the production, processing, and distribution of chicken and turkey meat. A sincere, ethical, and healthy approach to meat production is our greatest distinction and competitive advantage. Purex builds its values on animal welfare, natural processes, and animal nutrition that excludes toxic additives commonly used in industrial meat production. The result of this approach is healthy, uncontaminated meat that represents a superior standard of quality and a unique example of farming—not only in Croatia but also rarely seen across Europe.

The best proof of this high standard is our production without coccidiostats (antiparasitics), substances that pose serious health risks to humans and are unfortunately still permitted until the final stages of fattening. While the EU’s agricultural strategy aims to eliminate these additives within the next 10 years, Purex has already achieved this goal.

The story of Purex began with turkey farming for personal use, when the founder wanted to provide his family with healthier food than what was available in stores at the time. It all started in the Omiš hinterland, in the small village of Smolonje, where the first flock of turkeys was housed in a modest barn. The hobby quickly turned into a business, which expanded to include chickens and traditional Dalmatian pork specialties. Today, Purex operates poultry farms across the wider Sinj area, with a processing facility in Hrvace where the meat is prepared for sale. Purex sells its products primarily through its own retail network, covering the greater Zagreb area as well as Split and its surroundings.
