Meetup announcement: AI in eCommerce powered by Shipshape

This meetup for online retailers and those planning to become one was announced for Tuesday, 4 March 2025, at Sky Office, with registration through www.ecommerce.hr.

Over the past few years, artificial intelligence has become indispensable in eCommerce, something we can practically no longer live without. Or has it? When we discussed AI at length at the CRO Commerce conference two years earlier, we were uncertain. With good reason: the momentum behind this buzzword was extraordinary. It continues to feature in the trends, forecasts and wish lists of almost every online retailer and business owner.

Writing about AI is easier than applying it. That is why our own Ernest took the initiative to organise a meetup on AI in eCommerce. Specifically, we wanted to discuss how to use AI effectively to increase online store sales. How are our industry colleagues using it? How are we navigating the possibilities? And how do we compare with competitors and with Western markets?

The programme opened with “AI in eCommerce Today and Tomorrow”, presented by Shipshape partners Ernest Antolović and Davor Španić. Their main focus was on business processes that can incorporate intelligent solutions, including the process of selling products.

The event also included a panel with Dijana Kladar, lawyer and vice-president of eCommerce Croatia, discussing the legal aspects of AI in online sales, Dea Marušić, COO of the Kliker market intelligence application for monitoring online store offerings, Zlatko Viščević, owner and manager of Numex.hr, and Ernest Antolović, partner at Shipshape.

The focus was on the practical use of AI tools. This was not a discussion about nice-to-have features, intelligent agents training even more intelligent agents that might eventually recommend a product, or speculation about the future. The theme was AI today: how it helps online retailers and how it helps their customers.

Programme

1. Arrival and networking: 18:00–18:15

The main purpose of every eCommerce Croatia meetup is to share experiences and get to know each other. Do not be shy: head straight to the bar and meet the group.

2. Presentation: AI in eCommerce Today and Tomorrow, 18:15–19:00

Speakers: Davor Španić and Ernest Antolović.

Topic: AI in eCommerce Today and Tomorrow.

Overview: Artificial intelligence is not simply a new technology introduced for its “cool factor”. Implementing AI has the potential to affect every business process in your organisation. Learn what you can put into practice today and what may be coming in the near future.

3. Refreshment break: 19:00–19:15

Networking at our meetups has led to many business deals. Vina Markota was there to provide the wine and help the conversation flow.

4. Panel: How should we use AI tools in eCommerce? 19:15–20:15

Panellists: Dea Marušić, Dijana Kladar, Ali Sallabi, Ernest Antolović and Zlatko Viščević.

Moderator: Dino Oreški.

From legal and marketing advice to technical and organic-growth challenges, the panel was designed to answer practical questions and offer advice on using AI tools from the perspectives of retailers, technology specialists and lawyers.

Is AI really working for us? What happens if it recommends a product to a customer at a lower price? If a chatbot fails and provides incorrect information, who faces the legal consequences? Participants were encouraged to bring their own questions: on 4 March, this already hot topic was set to become even hotter.

5. Networking and informal conversations: 20:15–21:00
